The Association for Preservation Technology Western Great Lakes Chapter, in collaboration with Docomomo US/Chicago and the IIT College of Architecture invite you to a symposium on the Preservation Challenges of Modernist Structures.
Symposium overview
A majority of modern buildings and sites that were designed and constructed during the 20th Century are now more than 50 years old, the time frame when many would consider a structure to be historic. A large number of these structures (and even those considered to be Postmodern) are now at a point in their lifecycles where intervention is required whether due to deterioration, neglect, misguided modifications over time, or other factors. This symposium attempts to address the challenges and issues surrounding the preservation, rehabilitation, restoration, or reconstruction of modern structures.
